Trim Levels
The 2022 Volkswagen Golf GTI comes in three flavors called the S, SE, and Autobahn. Each new Golf GTI features LED headlights and heated side mirrors. The SE adds a sunroof and upgraded adaptive headlights. Upgrading to the Autobahn adds larger 19-inch wheels that replace the standard 18-inch versions. The Autobahn also has summer performance tires for improved performance. The S has LED foglights, but the other two trim have upgraded versions with low-speed corner-illuminating features. The SE also adds a power tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof.
Engine
The 2022 Golf GTI gets its strength from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that outputs 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. This engine is mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Performance
The GTI is the performance-tuned version of the standard Golf, delivering a more exciting driving experience. If you choose the automatic transmission, you'll get the Tiptronic and Sport Mode features to enjoy. Tiptronic adds paddle shifters that you can use to treat your automatic as though it were a manual. Sport Mode heightens your steering and throttle's responsiveness to deliver a more engaging and exciting driving style.
Interior
The Golf GTI seats up to five people or offers 34.5 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear row folded down. With the seats up, the Golf GTI offers 19.9 cubic feet in the rear cargo area. Each Golf GTI comes with heated front sport seats designed to deliver maximum comfort as you take on tight curves — even in the winter.
